Soft Gel
Soft Gel has a creamy consistency. When mixed with a small amount of colour it will produce a rich brilliant glaze. A wonderful new addition to collage. Its smooth bodied consistency enables movement and placement of collage materials and it is not as "wet" as Matte Medium, so there is less curl to paper collage pieces. Creates soft rolled edges of paint strokes in contrast to a heavier gel. Creates beautiful velvety textures when painting into with soft brushes.
Regular Gel
Regular Gels are creamy like Heavy Body Acrylic colours and are ideal for extending paint and regulating transparency without changing the consistency of the Heavy Body colours. Useful for impasto glazing effects.
Heavy Gel
Heavy Gels are thicker than Heavy Body Acrylic colours and may be blended with colours to increase body Excellent for holding peaks. They dry translucent.
Extra Heavy Gel
Extra Heavy Gels, along with High Solid Gels, are the thickest GOLDEN gels and create thicker textures than Heavy Gels. Excellent for holding peaks. They dry translucent.
Extra Heavy Gel / Moulding Paste
A blend of Extra Heavy Gel and Moulding Paste, dries to a satin, semi opaque finish. Blends well with colours. Excellent for increasing viscosity and building surfaces.
High Solid Gel
This is really stiff and thick. Wonderful for palette knife effects and major impasto looks. Shrinks less than all the other gels. The matte High Solid Gel creates a very waxy look. Holds very sharp deep Scrafitto incisions when carved into while wet.
Extra Coarse Clear Granular Gel
Clear, tiny, transparent plastic particles loaded into a gel. Creates very unusual surfaces and dries clear, creating unique glazing applications. Wash colour over dried layers of Granular Gel for unusual effects.
Clear Tar Gel
Very long stringy rheology, which means it will pour in long narrow drips without breaking. Mix a bit of colour with it and "draw" as it drips off the end of a palette knife or brush. Makes flat shiny or "oily" like surfaces when laid out with a palette knife. Very "pulley" to paint with. Create some wild marble effects by dropping colour onto a layer of wet. Tar Gel and using combs to "marble" or you can paint directly into the wet surface.
Pumice Gels
Three grades of gritty textures: Fine, Coarse and Extra Coarse. Fine Pumice Gel dries to a finely textured surface because the particles are very small imparting a velvety quality to the paint. Useful for creating grounds for Pastels, Oil Pastels and Paint Sticks. Coarse and Extra Coarse Pumice Gel create coarse granular concrete-like textures. Add colour to any Pumice Gel or wash fluid glazes onto the grainy texture and you can create almost "sparkly" looks. Great textures for use of drybrush techniques.
Garnet Gels
A beautiful assortment of gritty textures with speckled colour ranging from a warm rosy grey umber to a pink umber with rosy sienna grains in Fine, Coarse and Extra Coarse grit. In a more traditional use, create wonderful textures for beach, landscape, foliage, and rock formations. Create abstract textures or unusual coloured grounds and surfaces for Pastels, Oil Pastels and oil sticks.
Light Moulding Paste
Offers dramatic weight reduction, Its unique whitens creates extraordinary qualities when mixed with colour. A "space age" microscopic air bubble replaces the marble dust in regular Moulding Paste making it 50% lighter. This material gives the Light Moulding Paste a "fluffy" consistency similar to cake frosting or whipped cream. When dry, it his an oddly absorbent quality that allows for some beautiful rich saturated washes of colour. |
