|Burnishers have a highly polished finish and are designed for printmakers to make corrections to a bitten plate. The tools flatten burrs and areas of aquatint to polish the plate surface, allowing lines or areas of tone to be eliminated. |
They are shaped differently depending on the area that needs to be corrected.
Medium Ball Burnisher
Ideal for correcting very small areas within the plate
Burnisher and Curved Burnisher
|These tools have two uses in one, a burnishing end for polishing and scraper or point on the other end. Scrapers are used for scraping back areas of tone or unwanted lines before burnishing. The points can be used for etching lines into a ground or as a dry point tool. |
