Solar plates are easy to use with little experience of traditional printmaking processes.
Images can be transferred from clear film such as acetate or True Grain to the plate using a source of ultra violet light (i.e. Bright sunlight or a UV bulb). Once exposed, solar plates are simply developed in water without the need of additional harmful chemicals. The resulting plates reproduce fine detail picking up the smallest of marks on paper and have their own attractive plate tone.
Manufactured by Toyobo in Japan - Part number: KM73 GR and KM95GR There are two thicknesses: 0.73mm (KM73) and 0.95mm (KM95)
